Gender Conference NYC Professional Symposium 2019

This workshop is intended for all providers who care for young transgender and gender non-binary patients pre and post-operatively from gender affirmation surgery. We will address pre and post-operative concerns, education, and clinical skills to help ensure successful surgical outcomes and improved quality of life. This workshop seeks to address the physical and psychosocial aspects of surgery, how best to work together as an inter-disciplinary team, and strategies to provide continuity of care. We will address how to care for patients at every stage of their surgical transition ensuring surgical preparedness, support, resources, accessing barriers to self-care, conducting a holistic assessment of each patient, integrating trauma informed care, signs/symptoms to contact the surgery team, and follow-up exams.
