Moderated by GLSEN's Education Associate, Jamey Jesperson, this panel presentation and Q&A with delve into the topic of navigating gender identity and expression in the school classroom. Seasoned educators and practitioners will share their experiences providing support to trans and gender nonconforming youth from elementary to secondary school levels. The panelists come with expertise in early childhood education, political education and peer education in middle and high schools, supervising Genders and Sexualities Alliances (GSAs), and managing afterschool programs for students. This workshop will focus heavily on applied best practices of making the classroom a safe and inclusive environment for trans and gender nonconforming students, and how to facilitate conversations around gender with all students in the school community.
