The formula for creating a school environment that is safe, inclusive, and affirming for transgender, nonbinary, and gender expansive students is a multi-faceted one. This panel workshop will provide attendees insight into four of the most critical components of fostering a space where students can flourish--training educators, guiding school administration, providing counseling to parents and families, and encouraging youth organizing. Representatives from the NYC Department of Education, Ackerman Institute's Gender and Family Project, and GLSEN will come in conversation about the importance of these four elements in achieving trans-inclusion in schools.
