Day One NY
As the Youth Education Coordinator at Day One, Johanna provides workshops to youth on Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) and other topics surrounding and involving IPV such as Gender Roles and Consent & Coercion. Johanna received her Bachelor of Arts from SUNY Plattsburgh where she majored in English: Literature and English: Writing Arts. While an undergraduate she volunteered on her campus as a Health Peer Educator and was highly involved with a club on campus called Center for Womyn`s Concerns. Through these roles she worked with students and campus faculty to develop educational programs on the topics of safe sex, sexual assault services, sexual violence prevention, and unhealthy/healthy relationships. After graduating she became a Counselor/Advocate at the Violence Intervention Program where she provided direct services to clients living in the emergency domestic violence shelter. She provided group and individual domestic violence counseling, simultaneously providing education on gender violence. Johann
