Allen E. Lipscomb

Allen E. Lipscomb, Psy.D., LCSW is an Assistant Professor at California State University Northridge, in the Social Work Department. Dr. Lipscomb is a license in clinical social worker in the state of California. Dr. Lipscomb received his doctorate in Psychology (Psy.D.) with a clinical emphasis in marriage, family and child psychotherapy from Ryokan College and his MSW from the University of Southern California. Dr. Lipscomb specializes in providing anti-oppressive mental health services to individuals, children, youth and families of color. His areas of research are centered on the psychiatric epidemiology among racialized/marginalized individuals who have experienced trauma (i.e. complex trauma, traumatic-grief and race-based trauma). He is currently working on his next research project, which explores the utilization of E.M.D.R. psychotherapy to reduce the psychological effects of race-based trauma among people of color. Dr. Lipscomb published his first book last year titled: Black Male Grief Reaction to Trauma: A Clinical Case Study of One Man's Treatment.Allen additionally provides clinical supervision to medical social workers at the LA LGBT Center and provides psychotherapy in private practice to TAY youth of color.
