Lindsey Hennawi, LMSW, MPH currently works as the Family Permanency Coordinator at The LGBT Center, where she provides family therapy and parent coaching to families experiencing conflict around the child's LGBTQ identity. Lindsey also implements the LGBTQ Institute of Family Therapy (LIFT) training and certification program for clinicians and family workers serving families with LGBTQ youth, with the goal of increasing family acceptance and permanency. Prior to this, Lindsey worked as a therapist at the Ali Forney Center, the largest agency dedicated to serving homeless LGBTQ youth in the country, where she gained stark insight into the consequences and risks of family rejection for LGBTQ youth. Lindsey earned dual Masters degrees in Social Work and Public Health from Columbia University and has worked previously as a trauma therapist for incarcerated survivors of violence; a sexual health educator and advocate; a case manager for immigrant families; and in program evaluation to promote LGBTQ inclusivity and trauma-informed approaches in federally funded sex ed programs. Lindsey is passionate about delivering trauma-informed and inclusive care to LGBTQ youth and their families. In her spare time, she loves to read, box, watch reruns of old sci-fi shows on Netflix, and discuss all things tarot and astrology.
